Introduction:
Monopolar radiofrequency (MRF) is pivotal in aesthetic procedures, generating heat within soft tissue via electric currents to induce collagen contraction and neocollagenesis. However, treatment outcomes can be variable due to operator influence. We can develop comprehensive MRF treatment techniques by delving into fundamental physics and anatomy.
Materials and Methods:
To ensure safety, skin thickness and thermal relaxation time information are evaluated through high-frequency ultrasound. A cooling system adjusts MRF depth by modifying impedance, protecting the skin. Scrutinizing manufacturer patents can offer improved firing methods, such as the superpass stamping or sliding method. The SMAS and retaining ligaments are pivotal in facial aging. Drawing from patient feedback, utilizing multiple-pass vectors accumulates heat at the "optimal" tolerable energy level. The collagen tissue-temperature curve dictates the heating duration. Heat transfer and thermodynamics models are applicable in MRF treatment. Fibrous septae are the primary electric current channels affecting MRF's impact on fatty tissue.
Results:
Specific techniques elevate the safety and efficacy of MRF in aesthetic applications. High-frequency ultrasound, the implementation of a cooling system, and the adoption of relevant firing techniques are imperative for achieving safety and efficacy. The response to accumulated energy adheres to a curve resembling an exponential function. The duration of heating in the region of interest (ROI) is determined by employing multiple-pass vectors and the collagen tissue-temperature curve.
Conclusion:
MRF therapy plays a pivotal role in aesthetic applications, and its safety and effectiveness are enhanced through comprehensive techniques. This presentation will review pertinent studies and provide an updated perspective on MRF therapy concepts.
